F.A.Q.

1. What is DNS and why should I check DNS records?

Answer:
The Domain Name System (DNS) translates human-friendly domain names (like example.com) into IP addresses that computers use to communicate. Checking DNS records helps you verify that your domain is pointing correctly, troubleshoot email delivery (MX records), enforce security policies (TXT records), and ensure your site remains reachable worldwide.

2. How do I use FastDNSCheck to look up DNS records?

Answer:

  1. Enter your domain or subdomain in the search field.
  2. Select one or more record types (A, AAAA, MX, CNAME, NS, TXT).
  3. Click Lookup.
  4. View results from multiple global DNS servers, including IPs, TTL values, and any propagation delays.

3. Which DNS record types does FastDNSCheck support?

Answer:

  • A / AAAA (IPv4 / IPv6 address records)
  • CNAME (Canonical name records)
  • MX (Mail exchange records)
  • NS (Name server records)
  • TXT (Text records, including SPF, DKIM, DMARC)
  • SOA (Start of Authority)

4. What is DNS propagation and how can I test it?

Answer:
When you update a DNS record, it takes time for the change to spread (“propagate”) across all DNS servers worldwide. FastDNSCheck shows you real-time responses from servers in multiple regions so you can see which locations have updated and which are still serving the old record.

5. What does TTL mean in DNS results?

Answer:
TTL (Time To Live) indicates how long a DNS resolver will cache a record before requesting it again. A lower TTL (e.g. 300 seconds) means changes propagate faster; a higher TTL (e.g. 86400 seconds) reduces DNS lookup traffic but slows propagation.

6. Can I perform bulk DNS lookups?

Answer:
Yes. Use our Bulk Lookup page to upload a list of domains (CSV or newline-separated). FastDNSCheck will run simultaneous queries and return a consolidated CSV/JSON report of all requested record types.

7. Do you offer an API for automated DNS checks?

Answer:
FastDNSCheck provides a RESTful API for programmatic access. You can query A, MX, CNAME, NS, and TXT records, specify locations, and parse JSON responses. Visit our API Documentation page for endpoint URLs, authentication, rate limits, and example code snippets.

8. Is there a limit on how many lookups I can perform?

Answer:

  • Free tier: up to 100 lookups per day.
  • Pro tier: up to 5,000 lookups per day, with higher rate limits and SLA guarantees.

See the Pricing page for details and how to upgrade.

9. Do you log my queries or store my data?

Answer:
We log only non-identifiable metadata (timestamp, queried domain, record type) for analytics and performance monitoring. We never store personal user data or the contents of any forms you submit. For full details, see our Privacy Policy page.

10. I found an error or have more questions. How can I get support?

Answer:
Please use the Contact page to submit your issue or question. Provide your domain, record type, and a brief description of the problem, and our support team will respond within 24 hours.
